Hello, sorry about your father. Unfortunately, it is difficult to know what your question without answering the details of the career of his father and his status. There are varying different types of hemorrhagic stroke and severity can. For example, bleeding, hemorrhagic stroke, directly in the brain, as to know a parenchymal hemorrhage, or intracerebral hemorrhage. Another type of hemorrhagic stroke is a subarachnoid hemorrhage in which bleeding into the spinal fluid (CSF) that surrounds the brain. The symptoms and the results of these two types of stroke can be very different. Therefore, it is difficult to say that the prognosis for the case of his father, without the details of the bleeding.

The prognosis of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH), depends on the location of the hemorrhage, the size of the hematoma, awareness, patient age, health and general health. In addition, prior to therapy with oral anticoagulants (eg heparin or Coumadin / warfarin), and seems to be possibly antiplatelet therapy (aspirin, Plavix) associated to a poorerResults after ICH. ICH volume on initial MRI head and the level of consciousness on admission in May particularly important indicators of prognosis. On the basis of studies to come, the mortality after 30 days of ICH from 35 to 52 percent, half of these deaths within two days. In addition, feature only a small number of patients, regardless after the event. In a study of 166 patients with spontaneous ICH in a large metropolis in the United States, only 12 percent were normal or mildly disabled at 30 days. The results of the other types of hemorrhagic stroke and subarachnoid hemorrhage are also not very good, but it is different. Sometimes surgery can achieve better results for ICH.

To his father, that it is better, the doctors who ask for it now. I do not want to update you on the above information to be frightened, but unfortunately the facts. Rehabilitation with physical, occupational and speech therapists can help people from the loss function again after a stroke. Talk to your doctor. Unfortunately I could notto give a better answer. Best wishes for you and your father.

Hemorrhagic stroke is more likely to be fatal ishchemic. But do not despair. It is a chance of recovery. My brother had a stroke to the brainstem 7 years ago at the age of 40; He was locked in syndrome, unable to speak, breathe, by himself or move it. We were told it takes months or years before he would be able to return home, if at all. The neurologist thought he lived, would spend the rest of his life in a nursing home. The coup took place 30th June We took him in the rehabilitation center on 15 October this year. Difficulty swallowing, and it is difficult to understand when he speaks, and can not walk properly, use a scooter, but is alive and enjoying life to be.
Speakers aphasia (inability to make or understand spoken language) is common in patients with a stroke is paralysis on one side.
It is hard for everyone, including doctors, to tell how to improve it or how long it will take.
